What is the Weight Loss Warriors course and when does it start?
A 6 week course for individuals who have struggled with their weight over the long term. The main goal of this course is to increase fitness levels through regular structured exercise, good nutrition, monitored homework and support and by doing so, encourage weight-loss. The course will begin on Saturday 18 January 2020.

Is weight loss guaranteed?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no. Although one of the aims of the course is to help you reduce your current weight, weight-loss alone is not the primary goal. The main aim of the course is to provide you with the kick-start you need to make positive behavioural changes with regard to your health & fitness, such as increasing your exercise levels and eating well, whilst providing you with the support and encouragement you need to commit to these changes. We cannot guarantee that you will lose weight but if you are willing to embrace the changes, follow the exercise routines and break those bad food choices, the results to your health and wellbeing will only be positive.
Who will be running the course?
The course has been designed and will be taken by Carl Garton of The Fit Farm Guernsey. Carl is an extremely experienced Personal Trainer and is known for his sympathetic and understanding approach, providing support when required together with motivation, encouragement and on the odd occasion even fun!
Do I qualify?
To qualify you must have a Body Mass Index of at least 34 but otherwise be healthy enough to exercise regularly. Please check your eligibility using the Body Mass Index calculator at the bottom of this page.
What is the Individual Health Assessment?
This is designed to give us a comprehensive idea of your overall medical health before starting the course. Following confirmation of your place Carl will contact you to arrange a time for your assessment and ask you to complete a very detailed questionnaire concerning medical history, sleep patterns, attitude to food, exercise, etc., which we will use to get an idea of your past approach to managing your health & fitness. On the day we will record your height & weight and test your resting heart rate, blood pressure, lung function and body composition, which will determine your percentage of body fat, lean mass, as well as hydration levels and your base metabolic rate (how many calories your body requires to function). This will be your "Ground Zero".
What can I expect from the Exercise Classes?
These will take place at The Fit Farm Guernsey in Torteval, will last 1 hour and will be structured so that the contents will be suitable for all levels of fitness and ability. They will include but not be limited to interval training, bodyweight & cardio exercises and weights all of which will be set at the appropriate level for you.
It is very important to get an idea of where each individual is starting from and so on the very first exercise class you will be put through a very basic fitness test to measure your overall fitness levels, we will then repeat this test on the last day of your course to show the progress you have made.
How many places are there?
The course is strictly limited to 10 places and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis to qualifying applicants.
How much does the course cost?
The cost of the course is £249.99. A non-refundable deposit of £50 is required on acceptance to secure your place with the balance being payable immediately following your Individual Health Assessment.
